South Porcupine

South Porcupine's history of development is closely tied to the mining industry. Starting in 1907, the area became home to dozens of prospectors who explored the areas around Porcupine Lake and the Frederick House River. The early arrivals tended to congregate in a few settlements along the shores of Porcupine Lake. South Porcupine today is a progressive suburb of the City of Timmins, nestled in the lush forests of Northern Ontario.
