Englehart

Englehart is in the heart of the James Bay Frontier, close to everything, but far enough away to be an oasis of quiet and solitude. This is a railway town located on the Ontario Northland main line. Railways buffs will enjoy seeing the old Temiskaming and Northern Ontario locomotive No. 701, a CLC 4-6-2 steam engine, located in the downtown. The town has excellent walking trails where hikers and nature lovers can get out, enjoy the fresh air and experience the sights and sounds of wildlife. There is even a trail that connects to nearby Kap-Kig-Iwan Provincial Park, which itself is a nature lover’s mecca. The scenery here is postcard perfect with the numerous lakes and rivers teeming with the favorites of anglers – walleye, trout, bass and northern pike.
